We've had associated with Gurera family since 1970 when they were our neighbors at Moga. Since then we had been in constant touch with then in all good and bad times. Today we came from Chandigarh to be with the family on the moment of untimely demise of Mr Gurera. It was a pleasure and privilege to have known and worked with Mr Gurera. He was always to his colleagues and willing to help. I always admire his practical down to earth approach to problems both professional and human. In his passing away, the family and friends have lost a true servant of God. I Just do not know how to accept the news of sad demise of Sh Mani Ram Gurera whom I still around us. Sh Gurera ji was a person of unique personality with diversified character of positive nature. A person who was always ready to do social and community service to his friends, colleagues and neighbors. His absence would always be felt by our family. May God bless strength to Gurera's family to bear this great unreparable loss. May his soul rest in peace.

Jun27,2008 (Another memoir after several Years)
Out of many unforgettable and sharable incidents with Mr. Gurera , I wish to mention one from the days of Roits'84 in NCR. Those days he was working with Milkfood Pvt Ltd. At Patiala and very frequently used to visit Delhi due to his official visits for the new plant in Gurgaon. He used to stay in a Lounge, near our residence. Unfortunately during Mr Gurera's one visit to Delhi, immediate after the assassination of then PM of India, Late Indira Gandhi the riots begun in NCR including the most of the cities in India. One evening of Nov1984, I accompanied Mr Gurera to visit Gurgaon in his car, Premier Padmani with Punjab numbered registration. On the main road of Sector 18, when we were about to return home in Delhi, we noticed one young sikh guy appeared on road and panically rushing for help in the same direction we were moving. From one side we can also hear the loud noise of mob from the village Sarhaul. Mr Gurera looked at me to seek my opinion to help him. At first moment even I was also went panic with the situation and I confusingly shook my head. But Mr Gurera was firm to help him at that moment & while making up my mind, he confidently spoke, "He needs help and he will not be escaped". Mr Gurera immediately slowed the car, unlocked the back door from inside and shouted him to come in kaake chheti kar The chap strange fully looked at us, I convinced him to get in without having second thought & let him lie down in back seat. He told his name is Harpreet. We let him drop somewhere in Kalkaji as per his convenience. Thereafter when the things went normal, one day Harpreet visited me to express his gratitude. While remembering that black day in his life, Harpreet told Mr Gurera appeared like his second father to give him another birth. Even later years, Harpreet used to call me and used to ask about Mr Gurera. After the demise of Mr Gurera, at one such call he filled with sadness and simply spoken - Today I again lost my father

Late Sh M R Gurera came into contact with me more than nine years after my retirement from NDRI Karnal. Since he was working as a chief engineer in Milkfood Ltd, Gurgaon, where most of our students from NDRI Karnal are working. Sh Gurera ji always respected me as one of his teachers along with his other colleagues and always seeked my blessings as a Guru. He was ever smiling, loveable. We two families got attached to each other. Even my younger son & his wife are impressed with the activities of his son, Sh Shekhar Gurera, a renowned cartoonist who helps my daughter-in-law in preparing cartoons for some educational projects which speaks about the qualities of head & heart of Sh Shekhar, who has inherited the qualities from his illustrious father. Sh M R Gurera was able to make friends easily. Residents of Sector 17, Gurgaon cannot forget the services of Sh Gurera who compiled the first telephone directory for the society with other important information. May his soul rest in peace and guide his family including his noble son Sh Shekhar Gurera, cartoonist of fame to follow his footsteps. We are in sympathy with Sh. Gurera's family.

Sri Mani Ram Gurera was in Saharanpur during 1978-79 and his son Chandra Shekhar Gurera being the friend of my son Aditya, often visited our home. That way a family friendship was developed. I found Shri Mani Ram ji a very very jolly and sprinted person. He was well behaved and guided his children to be sincere and disciplined in life. His son Mr.Chandra Shekhar inherits the simplicity and sincerity of his father. I was really shocked to know of the death when I had come to meet him at Gurgaon. I pray to God for peace to the soul of Shri Mani Ram ji. The family shall have to strive hard to be normal as the vacuum created by him is hard to be filled.

I was a teenager during the years (mid of eighties) when they used to live in our nighbour at 7-D, Model Town, Patiala. He always treated me with respect. It felt good to me and I also treated him respectfully. Our mutual respect was more obvious during our eye contacts. Whenever he used to see me, he greeted me with a smile. To me, he was highly well settled, reputed and kind officer.
